Viva La Mamma 2010
“Viva la Mamma” skillfully done by LGO at SPAC Little Theater. Opera Saratoga’s production of “Viva la Mamma” at the Spa Little Theater is a hoot. The 1827 comic opera was given added material and updated to current times without missing a beat … everything sparkled. Nelson Sheeley provided the expert direction, which was fast moving. Curt Tucker led a frothy sounding orchestra.

LGO lightens up opera stage with “Viva la Mamma” A show within a show always permits creative opportunity, and little was left unexpected.

We applaud Opera Saratoga for programming an opera that has very little life in the operatic repertoire. There are certainly some good reasons that Viva la Mamma is not done often, but who wants to see the same fifteen operas over and over again? We look forward to LGO’s 50th season in 2011!
