AIDAN SMERUD - STUDIO ARTIST

OPERA SARATOGA DEBUT SEASON: Alidoro cover and Ensemble La Cenerentola; Ensemble in Dido and Aeneas.

Thrilled to be joining Opera Saratoga for the 2015 Summer Season, Bass-Baritone Aidan Smerud will be covering the role of Alidoro in Rossini’s La Cenerentola and perform as a member of the chorus in both in La Cenerentola and Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas.  In May, he completes his MM in Vocal Performance at the University of Houston, where he performed as Nonancourt in Nino Rota’s Il cappello di paglia di Firenze, Don Basilio in Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Rucker Lattimore in Carlisle Floyd’s Cold Sassy Tree, Dr. Miracle in Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Dr. Dulcamara in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, and Simone in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi.  In 2014, he attended the Ohio Light Opera summer program and performed numerous roles including the Pirate King in The Pirates of Penzance and Frederick in Herbert’s Dream City and the Magic Knight.
