OPERA SARATOGA DEBUT SEASON: Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas and Angelina cover in La Cenerentola

Mezzo Soprano Kate Farrar has performed various roles with Piedmont Opera, Chautauqua Opera, and Opera North including Kate Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Emily (The Ballad of Baby Doe), Frau Mary (Der Fliegende Holländer), Mercedes (Carmen), and the Fox (The Cunning Little Vixen). As a fellow at the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute she performed Arminda (La Finta Giardiniera), Giulietta (Les Contes D’Hoffmann, Miss Wingrave (Owen Wingrave), and Mary Warren (The Crucible). Her concerts include Mezzo Solo (Verdi Requiem), Mezzo Solo (El Sombrero de Tres Picos), and various appearances with North Carolina Opera and Chautauqua Opera. Kate was a winner of the North Carolina Metropolitan Opera Council Auditions, and of a Chautauqua Opera Guild Encouragement Award. She holds a master’s degree from the UNC-School of the Arts A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute.
