SCOTT PURCELL - APPRENTICE ARTIST

OPERA SARATOGA DEBUT SEASON: Brian cover in The Long Walk; Ensemble in Dido and Aeneas and La Cenerentola.

Scott Purcell, baritone, is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Voice Performance and Pedagogy at Westminster Choir College, where he is a student of Laura Brooks Rice. Most recently, he participated in the CoOPERAtive program as a Fellow. Previously, as a Young Artist with the Bel Canto at Caramoor program, Mr. Purcell performed in productions of Don Carlos, Ciro in Babilonia, I Capuleti e i Montecchi and Guillaume Tell. In the 2012-2013 season, as a young Artist at Palm Beach Opera, he sang the role of Dandini in the family performance of Rossini's La Cenerentola.. While in Palm Beach, he also sang the Marquis in Verdi's La Traviata and First Soldier in Strauss' Salome. His previous roles include the Pirate King in The Pirates of Penzance with Opera New Jersey, Dick Deadeye in H.M.S. Pinafore and Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro.
